OMG! Can I just tell you all that I had an amazing time. Let’s just say the pictures online, do not do this resort any justice. Who knew that such a beautiful and quiet place existed amongst the residents who live in Colorado Springs. Being a Coloradan, I always hear about Garden of The Gods, but I rarely hear about this new found treasure. I get it, I’m not a tourist so what would I know? Well, I definitely have found out. 😉
First off, I can say, driving up to the Main Gate from the main road is a pain. There are a ton of pretty decent sized potholes, leading all the way up to the Main Gate of the resort. Upon entering through the main gate, I was greeted by security. Having never stepped foot on this location, I politely asked the security to guide me towards the Lodge. Security proceeded to give me directions and let then let The Lodge know of my arrival.
Once I arrived at The Lodge, I automatically grew more comfortable. I was greeted with great customer service. It is my belief that great customer service can make or break a trip, a dinner, a phone conversation… In this case, the customer service on every level was up to par. I did not feel awkward or a bit uncomfortable. Any accommodations needed came with ease. I had the luxury of sleeping in a huge suite, with a finished patio and a giant king-sized bed. My room was stocked with the usual, coffee, water, teas… you name it. The bathroom came equipped with a two head shower, with one shower head located on top.
Due to my arrival on Mother’s Day, The Flying Horse Steakhouse was booked up and fully reserved, so the only other option for me was to order room service. The first night, I ordered a cheesecake and a Super Fruit Cosmo. I’d already eaten out somewhere else so a full course meal was not necessary.
In the morning, I ordered the Denver Omelet. The omelet was pretty good. Food was cooked and seasoned with green bell peppers, onion, a side of potatoes and toast. The presentation on the other hand was a bit off. Could have been better given the 5 star restaurant title, however, when you have a few teenagers running the show, the food doesn’t get much better than this.
I then had the opportunity to attend the spa for a 50min massage. The spa was in my opinion, the ultimate gem of The Flying Horse resort. The aroma in the air was soothing and the energy was calm. Being in the Spa was like being in another dimension. Something neat I learned, was the reason a person goes in and out of a sleep or trance-like state while receiving a massage is because receiving a massage is very similar to exercising. At least that’s what the MAs souse told me.
Well that’s all I have for now, anyway. I do plan on going back when the weather is sunny. We’ve been getting a lot of rain which everyone knows is great for Colorado as our fires can grow pretty out of control. My thing is, while I love the spa, I also like to go on adventures. I absolutely love the mountains, hands down. I enjoy hiking, I love learning about the history of the lands I’m walking and I love beautiful scenery.
So the next time I go to The Lodge at Flying Horse, I’ve made it my mission to explore as a tourist would over the course of a week or so. Overall, I was absolutely impressed with my stay. The resort was quiet and peaceful. Absolutely beautiful, especially lit up at night. The staff were super friendly and responsive. The massage, I’d been desperately needing was good and my overall trip was, affordable to say the least.

Mother’s Day really doesn’t get any better than that. Until next time….
