It is Black History Month and I wanted to pay homage to my favorite Black fashion Designers in 2021. It’s been a long road, leading up to now. With Black Lives Matter and racial tensions at an all time high, I wanted to be sure to save that energy for the blog right here.
These men and women have accomplished a great deal and opened many doors for those to come, within the fashion industry. It’s amazing how many doors they’ve managed to kick down, considering the lack of diversity in the industry.
Here are The Fashion Frenze’s Top 5 Favorite Black Fashion Designers of 2021.
Tracy Reese – Brand: Tracy Reese, Hope for Flowers
Tracy Reese is one of my all time fashion faves! Her fashion designs have been worn by celebrities all around the world for many years now. Our most notable celebrity, Michelle Obama was notorious for wearing Tracy Reese as well as Regina King. Tracy Reese is most known beautiful, elegant and timeless dresses.Embed from Getty Images

Telfar Clemens has been on fire! The work of Clemens has been the absolute talk around the town. Clemens work is centered unisex and gender-neutrality. The “Buschwick Burkin” are one of the many purse designs made by Clemens.Embed from Getty Images
Dumebi Iyamah – Brand: Andrea Iyamah
Dembi Iyamah is a Nigerian-Canadian fashion designer who specializes in swimsuits and bridal wear. Andrea Iyamah fashion wardrobes have something for everybody and that is what I love about her. The Andrea Iyamah collection is fun, spunky and demonstrates a lot of class.
Laquan Smith – Brand: Laquan Smith
Laquan Smith is another #celeb favorite. He has worked with A-List stars like Beyonce, Rihanna and Lady Gaga. Laquan smith provides a more modern style in his designs. It’s almost as if he takes what fashion is trending and enhances it. Laquan Smith is an innovator of fashion which makes him #4 on our list.Embed from Getty Images
Rihanna – Brand: Fenty and Savage X Fenty
Of course we, saved the best for last. Please tell me, what is it that Ms. RiRi cannot do. Let’s be clear, Rihanna is NOT on this list because she is famous or because we love her soo much, although, we do. #ijs Rihanna is on this list because she is the very first BLACK WOMAN to have full control over her all original brand, on LVMH. Fenty and Savage X Fenty are recognized as a major fashion brand similar to Gucci or Versace. Now that’s #BlackGirlMagic!
