4 Tips That Will Never Steer You Wrong When Making Friends

Knowing the difference between an acquaintance and a friend is very important to our success as individuals. Having friends around who aren’t really your friends or who do not have your best interest in mind can really slow down your progress and evolution in life. These people have a way of shooting down our dreams, striving to sabotage our friendships and relationships with others, damaging our reputations, have us believing we are not worth a damn, I mean the list goes on…

In this article, I would like to present to you some ideas and concepts that will help you to not make the same mistakes that I made and help you to pick your friends more wisely. After all, Erykah Badu did mention to “Pick Your Friends Like You Pick Your Fruit.”

Here are four rules of thumb that will never lead you astray when choosing the people you want to call friends…

Rule of Thumb:

Prior to making any friendships moving forward, I need you to really sit with the fact that you will only have one or two real, solid friends your entire life time. One or two, three if you are lucky! So essentially, everyone you meet through out your life time is an acquaintance of sorts. Marinate on that!

Rule Of Thumb 2:

Friends do not allow their friends to fuck up! Yes, I said it. Your friends, Real Friends, should ALWAYS be pushing you to become better, do better and better. Remember, you are the sum of the 5 people you hang out with the most. So whatever your friends are on, you can best likely believe, you will be on.

Rule Of Thumb 3:

Your friends should ALWAYS support you!!! No matter what, if it is important to you it should be important to them too! I’ve always said, your friends should be your biggest cheerleaders on and off the court. Good or Bad Days, your friends should love you through thick and thin.

Rule Of Thumb 4:

Your friends should accept you one hundred percent. The good, the bad and the ugly. While your friends should never accept being mistreated by you, they definitely should accept all that comes with you. It is not your job to change you to appease them. Remember that! If they don’t like you, they are more than capable of making a new friend they do like!

I hope this resonates with those who find them selves questioning whether a person is a true friend or not. Remember who you choose to be in your presence must be worthy enough to be in your presence otherwise, why have them there at all?inspirationdaily inspirationfriendshipsPreviousTips & Tricks To Help You Strut In Heels Like A Runway ModelNextQuarantine Edition: 25 Thought Provoking Quotes On Being Alone
