Like a puzzle piece fits to a puzzle a photographer to a photo shoot. You cannot have one without the other. The quality of the photographers work can make or break a shoot, so you want to be sure you are choosing the right one for the job.
Here are five tips that will help you choose the best photographer for your photo shoot.
Tip # 1: DO YOUR RESEARCH
When seeking out a photographer for your shoot, you want to do your research. You do not want to work with just anybody. So be sure to do your homework on the photographer you are hiring. Check and see if the photographer has a website and/or a Facebook page where their portfolio is displayed.
Tip # 2: GET TO KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Interview your photographer just the same as a job will interview you prior to making a hiring decision. You want to know where your photographer got their start, how long they’ve been a photographer so on and so forth. Don’t be afraid to ask questions. A good photographer will invite them.
Tip # 2: KNOW YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER’S STYLE
Each photographer has a signature style. This signature style is what the photographer is ultimately known for. You want to match the style of the photographer to the shoot you are planning. This will most likely give your photo shoot a boost especially if the photographer is in their element.
Tip # 3: PLAN YOUR SHOOT WITH THE PHOTOGRAPHER
You want to plan your photo shoot with the photographer you are working with. Let them know what outfit you are planning on wearing, the setting or background you want, what your overall aim is for the photo shoot, prior to doing the shoot. This gives the photographer some time to prepare as well.
Tip # 4: PAY ATTENTION
Pay attention to what the photographer is presenting to you throughout the planning process and the shoot. Photographers often times have their own shooting ideas for their models. Pay attention to what the photographer is suggesting. For example, let’s say you and your photographer are shooting. Your photographer tells you to pose by crossing your legs. Seems innocent huh? Well let’s say your photographer suggests you reveal a little more cleavage than the cleavage you have already showing, then that might not be so innocent. So this is why it is important to pay attention to what the photographer is suggesting and how you are feeling after it has been suggested. This will determine if the photographer is fit to bring your vision to life.
